Monday 6/15/15 - I often post about the daily troubles and challenges I have. Today is all about a good day. After letting my vacationing friend's cats out early on Monday, I decided to head into Anderson and have one of the free doughnuts offered to Prime Timers at the local casino. I had a deposit to make at the bank but it wasn't opening for about an hour. To make a long story short I played my weekly money, hit a handpay jackpot and via a summer fun jackpot coupon received an additional $100 slot play that netted additional wins! I had Fed Taxes ($306) and In Taxes ($41) withheld from my $1221 jackpot. I played my $100 slot play and collected more winnings..........After paying the taxes, I had a total of an additional $1,600 to add to my original bank deposit! My treat to myself was this bag of Therapy Soak Epsom Salt.
The extra money came in handy this month for my quarterly supplemental health insurance policy ($459) my tractor maintenance bill ($455) and my check for 500 gallon @ $1.49 ($810) to prepay propane and lock in a price for next winter. Yikes...............I still have monthly utilities and a vet bill of $150 for boarding Lulu while in New Orleans.....Now you see why I got a job at Wal-Mart.

Sweets for the sweet.......sweet workers
Sunday, June 15, 2015 - Here is a picture of the break room where I work. On weekends we are often provided with treats from the bakery. Today there were piles and piles of cupcakes. We often have doughnuts (mostly the plain yeast) There and sometimes bananas or apples. One day this month we were treated to a hamburger/hot dog buffet with chips, cookies, soft drinks and veggie trays. They did however take away a rack that was provided for employees to store their lunch totes. They also took out a water cooler and one of the vending machines. As long as they leave us some chairs, I think I can get by.
It is raining here again. I am on cat duty for the next four days. I feed Randy's outside cats morning and night as well as make sure they are tucked in the garage safe from the coyotes at night. I will be letting them out in the morning and collecting the mail and papers. And, of course, checking on his inside cat, Jenny. Since its summer and hot I must add plant watering to my house sitting duties. I am a professional at that. It is, after all, what I do at Wal-Mart. :)

New Orleans Trip - Looking Back
6/11/15 - It has been some time ago that I went to New Orleans, almost a month! I did want to make a quick post describing the time share where we stayed. I guess pictures would be ideal. I only took a couple pictures all the while we were there. I didn't want to have a camera to keep track of and my cell phone takes pretty lousy shots. So, here is a link . New Orleans' French Quarter has the Quarter House, a luxury suite resort in the heart of the Vieux Carre. The building was designed by renowned New Orleans architect James Gallier in 1831. In 1983, it underwent historical renovation. Enjoy all of the resort's atmosphere, the French Quarter, Aquarium of the Americas, and many historic buildings and museums. Walk along the Mississippi River or enjoy exciting nightlife and an evening cruise. Resort amenities include a tropical courtyard with a wading pool.
Some personal observations: The French Quarter is crumbling and smells! You had to watch every step because most of the sidewalks were in need of repair. Perhaps that is why people walk down the middle of the streets. I loved all the antique shops. Items were museum quality. How do those owners sleep when there is notice of a possible hurricane? More reason to enjoy the simple life, get rid of STUFF. I remember having a dream about a tornado coming. I went to the basement. I was thinking " I sure am glad I had that auction and sold all those cars. I don't have to worry about them." Of course, I still have a barn full of "items" that need to go. As I get older and realize I will never do anything with that stuff, I believe it will be easier to let it all go. I often have the thought: If you died right now, you won't be taking any of this with you...........................

Still Alive!
6/10/15 - Just a short post to affirm the fact that I am still alive. It has been a long time since I have posted anything. Partly because work keeps me busy, partly because my computer is constantly updating, partly because I have just been too lazy. My post today is just a quick, disgusting photo of one of my hands. The broken nails, dirt under the nails (maybe a soak in bleach tonight will help) scratches and brown stain is a pretty good representation of how my hands look most of the time since starting the plant watering job at Wal-Mart. I must like it. I had another job offer and opted to stay at Wal-Mart. I think the reason being that this job is supposed to be "Seasonal" so, I can quit in a few months without feeling quilty. I'll post a prettier picture next time.
